"Government will not renege on its campaign promises”-Ms Koomson.
The Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, Ms Ophelia Koomson, today assured rural communities that the government would not renege on its campaign promises.
She said, government will continue to provide good drinking water, accessible roads, electricity supply and good school infrastructure to promote quality teaching and learning among others for the people.
Ms Koomson said this when she presented free school uniforms to pupils at Akyem Koforidua, Kyeremase, Nyame Nti, Asibrim, Suponso, Anomabo and Mmofram Local Authority schools at separate functions.
She said the school uniforms as well as the Capitation Grant are interventions to ensure that quality education does not only become affordable but also accessible to all.
Ms Koomson advised parents to take advantage of those interventions to enroll their children in school.
She appealed to teachers to guard against all acts that tend to undermine teaching and learning in rural schools to enable the children to compete favorably with their counterparts in the urban centres.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mr David Afram, acknowledged the pivotal role teachers have played and continue to play in the implementation of new educational reforms.
